Last week, we welcomed you to Malibu’s newest development, Trancas Malibu. Community is an integral element in the vision of Trancas Malibu, so we’d like to introduce you to Malibu’s stunning beaches, scenic parks, and an awesome, vibrant market. The opportunities for adventure, family fun and relaxation are endless. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, here’s a guide to some of the best spots closest to the Trancas Malibu development. Broad Beach

Broad Beach might be lesser-known, but that’s part of its charm. Accessing this beach feels like uncovering a well-kept secret. Public entry points are discreetly tucked between luxurious private properties. Once you step through the gate and onto the sand, you’re greeted with the calming sound of waves and the soft, sandy shore beneath your feet.

This beach isn’t just about relaxation; it offers a variety of activities that cater to different interests. Whether you’re a surfer catching waves, a bodyboarder, or a windsurfer, Broad Beach has conditions that can be ideal for these activities. For those who prefer a slower pace, the beach’s gradually sloping shore is perfect for a barefoot stroll, especially during low tide in the summer months​.

Trancas Top Tip: Tidepooling 

Broad beach is the perfect place for tidepooling. Explore the fascinating tide pools, especially at the northern end of the beach. These tide pools are teeming with marine life, including sea stars, anemones, and small crabs. According to California Beaches, they are best explored during low tide when the water recedes and reveals the intricate ecosystems within the rocky pools.


Lechuza Beach

Tucked away in the northern part of Malibu, Lechuza Beach offers a tranquil and scenic escape from the more crowded beaches. Known for its crystal-clear waters, rocky outcrops, and pristine sand, this hidden gem is a favorite among locals and those seeking a quieter beach experience.

Lechuza Beach is perfect for photographers: Capture stunning photos of the beach’s natural beauty. The rocky outcrops and clear waters provide a picturesque backdrop, especially during sunrise and sunset.


El Matador Beach

(Access Point: The beach is located off Pacific Coast Highway at 32215 Pacific Coast Highway. A small parking lot at the top of the bluff leads to a steep, winding path and staircase down to the sand.)

For those seeking dramatic coastal views, El Matador Beach is a must-visit. Keep in mind, accessing El Matador Beach requires a bit of effort, but this just adds to its allure. While the descent might be challenging for some, the breathtaking views along the way make it an adventure worth taking. 

Known for its stunning sea stacks and photogenic cliffs, this beach is part of the Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach. Bring your camera—this beach is a photographer’s dream! As you descend, the crashing waves and the golden sand come into view, creating an unforgettable first impression.

Trancas Top Tip: Sea Caves!

The sea caves at El Matador Beach are its crown jewels, offering an adventurous and visually stunning experience. Carved out by years of erosion, these caves are perfect for exploration, photography, and soaking in all that nature has to offer.


Trancas Canyon Park

Moving inland, Trancas Canyon Park offers a refreshing change of scenery with its lush greenery and open spaces. The views of the Santa Monica Mountains are an added bonus, making it a lovely spot to enjoy a peaceful day outdoors. A family friendly place, Trancas Canyon Park is easily accessible, with loads of available parking.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a leisurely walk, the trails provide epic views of the surrounding hills and the Pacific Ocean. The paths are well-marked and wind through coastal sage scrub and oak woodlands, offering a peaceful and scenic hike.

For those who prefer a gentler pace, the park’s trails are perfect for nature walks. You can enjoy the lovely flowers and multitude of birds and small wildlife. The trails also provide excellent opportunities for photography, especially during sunrise and sunset – the highly sought after “golden hours.”

Charmlee Wilderness Park
